Evmos: Everything you need to know for the next 72 hours

I’ll keep this medium post as short as possible with all the info necessary. Do not quote me on any of this since external factors can change at any time. I try my best to provide you the info as accurate as possible (I do not represent the Evmos team)

Airdrop

Mainnet: 2022–03–02 6 pm UTC (ONLY MAINNET LAUNCH, NO LISTING NOR AIRDROP CLAIM)

Airdrop claim start time: 2022–03–03T18:00:00Z → DASHBOARD ISSUES → Likely EoD, maybe tomorrow it should be fixed.

Claim works with Keplr and Metamask through the dashboard (see below). For the Evmos Rektdrop, users are required to claim their airdrop by participating in core network activities. A Rektdrop recipient has to perform the following activities to get the allocated tokens:

25% is claimed by staking
25% is claimed by voting in governance
25% is claimed by using the EVM (deploy or interact with contract, transfer EVMOS through a web3 wallet)
25% is claimed by by sending or receiving an IBC transfer

Buttons will appear on the dashboard. Do not freak out. You have enough time to do these tasks. We are happy to help out on Telegram if you struggle. Take this as a chance to learn how the cosmos-hub (IBC) works. It’s magic!

Gas fee: You’ll claim on the Evmos network. They put some dust into eligble accounts so you can pay gas for claim YOU WON’T CLAIM ON ETHEREUM.

DEX (Selling/Buying)

DEX (Osmosis / Junoswap): It will likely take a couple of days to get on Osmosis/Junoswap. The community will need to provide liquidity. And the community can apply to the community pool for a loan if they want. The more active the community is, the better!

DEX (Cronus Finance, Diffusion Finance, Exswap): Once the erc20 module is activated by governance it will be widely available on all evm apps. To check governance load mintscan.io/evmos

Metamask

Evmos is fully evm compatible. Connect your Metamask to Evmos.

Add network: Go to chainlist.org and add the Evmos, search for Evmos and add the network. Popup will appear, accept it.

SIDE NOTE — wait for the mainnet to launch before adding it on metamask.

Staking

Is available on day 1. Once you claimed your airdrop, stake it for some juicy APY.

Enabled: yes

Unbonding period: 21 days

APY: Three digits (according to my own calculations, do not quote me on that).

Validators: 130 validators out of 600 were selected. Feel free to support Swiss Staking (evmosvaloper1vw76ju5rwt9us7kz8tg42t6yfmq2jftydu74u6 or check out swiss-staking.ch). We have to lowest commission possible (5%).

Redelegations: Yes, once every 21 days

EVM: Once the erc20 module is activated by governance, Evmos can be used on the EVM

Bridge

Nomad: With Nomad and Connext, institutions and end-users will be able to send value and call data between the Ethereum and Evmos ecosystems. This will allow Ethereum and other EVM chains’ ERC-20 tokens to be available on Evmos and subsequently the entire Cosmos ecosystem via IBC.
